KERRI 501c3

Welcome to Kingfisher Equine Rescue and Rehabilitation Inc. (KERRI), a non-profit 501c3 organization dedicated to helping off the track thoroughbreds (OTTBs) find their next home. Founded in 2020 by Katie Fisher of Kingfisher Farms, KERRI  is working to set the standard of aftercare for retiring racehorses.

KERRI is committed to best practice rehabilitation and medical transparency. This ensures that each horse is placed in a career its best suited for and that adopters have all the health information needed to properly care for their new partner.

Each KERRI horse goes through the following prior to being available for adoption.

A Complete veterinary assessment  is performed at intake for each horse which includes:

  • An exam  with x-rays, a farrier evaluation, a scope for ulcers, and a body condition
  • Rest/let-down as needed (4-6 weeks); evaluation of temperament and career possibilities
  • Rehab therapies as needed
  • Full transparency to prospective adopters

Our Care Team
Each KERRI horse is evaluated and rehabbed by a team that understands the medical and care needs unique to thoroughbred racehorses.  Our practitioners are experts in their field  and have treated some of the top equine athletes in sport.
